East End Brass Quintet consists of musicians who take an active part in musical life of both Long Island and NYC. Warm stage presence, amazing virtuosity of the group and wide range of repertoire are only few features, which make this ensemble very appealing to variety of “musical tastes” of their audience. The Quintet participates in various events ranging from formal concerts, through special events like weddings, private or corporate parties, fundraising campaigns, to the educational concerts and master-classes.

A unique repertoire includes traditional brass quintets from Renaissance through Contemporary works, transcriptions of jazz, rags, popular “show tunes” to commissioned and original chamber compositions.

Jason Chapman (trumpet): received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Trumpet Performance from the SUNY at Purchase. It was during that time that Mr. Chapman won the Concerto Competition at the C.W. Post Summer Chamber Music Festival, and performed the Haydn Trumpet Concerto at the Tilles Center. Later, he earned a Master of music degree at Manhattan School of Music. His private teachers have included Mel Broiles, John Ware, Ron Anderson, Bob Findley and Carmine Caruso. Mr. Chapman is in many diverse groups in the Metropolitan area. He arranges, performs, and tours with several horn sections. When not performing he maintains a large studio of trumpet students.

Chris DiMeglio (trumpet): Chris is a free-lance trumpeter and composer in New York. He has studied with Laurie Frink, Fred Mills, Greg Bobulinski, James Madeja, Pace Sturdevant, Jon Holland, Jack Daney, and many others. He has toured the US and England with several chamber groups and led his own group at the Festival of New Trumpet Music 2006. He has performed with Trumpet Nation, the Goodwill Games Festival Orchestra, the Astoria Symphony, the Macon Symphony, the Long Island Brass Guild, and Kyle Jason. Chris performs regularly with the Chris DiMeglio Group, Soul Be It, Glass Houses, and the Royal Brass. As a composer he embraces a wide and growing variety of musical genres. Rex Enderlin (trombone): He is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, made his home on Long Island in 1983 after earning the DMA degree from SUNY Stony Brook as a student of Ron Borror‘s. Other notable teachers include Miles Anderson and Don Hough. As an educator, Mr. Enderlin taught public school in Northern California, served four years as Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi, and currently maintains a healthy stable of private trombone and euphonium students. Mr. Enderlin has performed with the symphony orchestras of Stockton(CA), Meridian(MS), and Knoxville(TN). Today he plays trombone with the Massapequa and Sound Symphony Orchestras, alto horn and euphonium with the Old Bethpage Village Restoration Brass Band, and sackbuts(Renaissance trombones) in Manhattan and Philadelphia. Rex organizes and directs the Sliphorn Orchestra of Long Island in it‘s annual Groundhog Invitational Trombone Concert to benefit Long Island community music groups. He is married to flutist and teacher, Debra Schild. They live in St. James.

Jeffrey Furman (tuba): Jeffrey as a degree from the State University of Stony Brook. He is a founding member of the Cross Island Brass Quintet and the Long Island Tuba Quartet. He is also a member of the Celebrations Brass Quintet, the Metropolitan Brass Quintet, the Long Island Brass Guild, and the Sunnyland Jazz Band. As an active freelance musician, Mr. Furman has performed with the Nassau Symphony, the New York Pops Orchestra, and regularly with the SUNY at Stony Brook Graduate Orchestra.

Luiza Raab- Pontecorvo ( french horn): Born in Poland, graduated with two diplomas with distinction in horn and piano performance from Chopin’s Music Academy in Warsaw (PL) and University of Missouri in KC, and Doctorate of Musical Arts from State University of NY at Stony Brook. She is a recipient of prestigious scholarships, which enabled her to attend the International Summer School of Music in Dartington (UK), Music Festspiel Treffen in Bayreuth (Ger), and Aspen Music Festival in CO, and a winner of many horn and piano competitions. As a guest artist she performed with international orchestras including “Jeunesses Musicales” in Salzburg ( Austria), Trinity Chamber Orchestra in London and Narvic Peace Symphony Orchestra in Norway. Mrs. Raab has performed throughout Europe, Korea and China. Her recent solo performances include: Schumann- Konzertstü cke for 4 horns and orchestra and J. Brahms- German Requiem (version for piano and choir). She can be heard on “Meyer Kupferman Orchestral Music Vol. XVI”- CD released by Soundspells Production and Nassau Music Educators Association All-County Festival released by McIver Recordings. Quinte Esentia Woodwind Quintet was established as part of North Shore ProMusica Society- chamber music organization on Long Island, NY founded in 1980. With time the group developed its identity and became independently performing ensemble. Its repertoire includes variety of Classical to Modern compositions, written specifically for woodwind quintet, and arrangements of many classical, jazz, rag and pop works. Concert programs are designed to entertain the audiences of all ages still featuring history’s most known masterpieces.

Terry Keevil (oboe), english horn, duduk: has performed with the Bach Aria Group, been principal oboe with Lazar Gosman's Tchaikovsky Orchestra, and has been principal oboe with the Manhatten Chamber Orchestra and Choir of Sacred Music.  He is currently a member of the Constellation Trio, North Shore Pro Musica, Quinte Esentia Woodwind Quintet and principal oboe with the Peconic Chamber Orchestra.  Dr. Keevil has free lanced in the New York Metropolitan area and in Boston, including performances of operas, Bach cantatas, orchestral and chamber music works.  He is also involved with improvisation and world music.  He can be heard with David Darling and the Adagio ensemble on the CD "In Tune", released by the Relaxation Company. Dr. Keevil received his DMA from SUNY at Stony Brook where he studied with Steve Taylor, and his MM from Stony Brook, where he studied with Ronald Roseman.  As an undergraduate, he attended Amherst College and received his BA from Sarah Lawrence College.  He has a private teaching studio in Stony Brook.

Elena Yarittu (flute): a former Bay Area resident, Ms. Elena Yárritu currently makes her home in New York where she is a doctoral candidate at Stony Brook University studying with Ms. Carol Wincenc. An active chamber musician and solo recitalist, Yárritu has performed extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York and abroad in France, the Netherlands and in Eastern Europe. In November 2003, Ms. Yárritu gave her New York Recital Debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as a recipient of a Special Presentation Award given by Artists International Presentations. In June 2006, she was a featured soloist performing Samuel Zyman's Flute Sonata at Merkin Hall in New York City with Ensemble Alma, a New York based group specializing in music of Latin America and Spain.   Elena Yarritu has studied with many great musicians in the U.S. and abroad both privately and in master classes including: Isabelle Chapuis Starr (SJSU), Lloyd Gowen (SF Symphony), Bart Feller (NYC Opera), Ransom Wilson (Yale University), Jill Felber (UCSB), the late Alain Marion (Paris, France), James Galway, the late Julius Baker and Jeanne Baxtresser. Ms. Yarritu is also a devoted educator. She currently teaches in the undergraduate music program at Stony Brook University, maintains a private studio in Stony Brook and hosts an annual summer master class for young, talented flutists in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pavel Vinnitsky (clarinet): he is orchestral and chamber music performances include Opera Orchestra of New York, New York Scandia Symphony, DiCapo Opera Theatre, New Haven Symphony, Wall Street Chamber Players, Biava String Quartet and the Norfolk Contemporary Music Ensemble among others. Mr. Vinnitsky has also toured in Russia, Israel, Europe and China and was featured as a soloist at some of the world major music festivals including Pomersfielden Collegium Musicum (Germany), Abu Gosh Festival (Israel) Vienna World Music Festival (Austria), Furth International Klezmer Festival (Germany), Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and the Music Academy of the West (USA).  Previously he held position with the Habima National Theatre in Tel Aviv and performed with Youth Israel Philharmonic, Beer Sheva and Raanana Symphony Orchestras. He is a prizewinner of the Ukrainian National and the Rubin Academy of Music Woodwind Competitions. His performances were broadcast on the Israeli National Television and the Bavarian Radio. Mr. Vinnitsky holds degrees from both Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv and Yale University School of Music.

Craig Vandewater (bassoon): completed his Doctorate at SUNY Stony Brook where he studied with Arthur Weisberg. He has performed with Nassau Symphony, the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, and is currently a member of the Lancaster Festival Orchestra and the Peconic Chamber Orchestra. He maintains a private studio and has a nationally recognized reed making business. Keenly interested in improvements for the bassoon, his instrument is one of the first to feature an innovative mechanism designed by Arthur Weisberg.
